MURAT III (1574- 1595)
When Murat III ascended the throne, he chose the grand-vizier, Sokullu mehmet Pasha to govern until grand vizier’s death in 1579.
Poland in Ottoman’s Suzerainty (1575)
After the death of the Polish king in 1572, Russia, Germany and France preferred to choose a king of their favour. The Ottomans supported by the France made the ERDEL prince Baturi voted. Therefore, Poland, became under Ottomans suzerainty. The Russian and German influence was prevented.
Morocco in Ottoman’s suzerainty
The sultanate of Morocco was controlling the straits of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean’s opening to the Atlantic Ocean. Advancing from the struggles for the throne in Morocco, the Ottomans positioned Beylerbeyi of Algeria, Ramazan Pasha, for the conquest of Morocco. Ramazan Pasha controlled the area and made Abdulmelik sultan under the Ottoman’s suzerainty.
This new situation revolted Portuguese navy. The two forces met close to Tanca at Kasru’l Kebir (Vadiu’s Seyl). Portuguese navy defeated and the King of Portugal died during the battle (1578). The Ottoman borders reached the Atlantic Ocean
