Ottoman-Austria Relations
Erdel Governor (Beylerbeyi) Rakoci joined with Eflak and Bogdan, rebelled against Ottomans in order to hold the throne of Poland in 1658. Grand-vizier Koprulu Mehmet Pasha marched against the revolters, captured the fortress of Yanova and appointed new governors to Erdel, Eflak and Bogdan.
Ex-governor Rakoci requested protection from Austria. The interference of Austria to Erdel was the beginning of the war between Ottomans and Austria.
